A year ago the top three products were three Chinese factory brands splitting 4% of clicks across a fragmented top of search.

This week, Amazon's private label walked in and took the #1 spot outright. The top-3 click concentration more than quadrupled.

PRETTYGARDEN didn't lose because their product got worse. They lost because Amazon out-listed them on a category that wasn't a category yet.

This pattern shows up across the Pulse dataset week after week. The brands compounding organic search demand aren't the ones with the biggest ad budgets. They're the ones who treat their listings like a product, and the ones who recognize a category before it becomes one.

Worth asking: what searches will exist a year from now in your category? And are you set up for them?
