Introducing AI for Product Listing Optimization

Christian Umbach

In today's competitive eCommerce landscape, optimizing product listings is crucial to capture consumer attention and drive conversions. At Autopilot, we're leveraging the power of AI to transform the process of product listing optimization. This blog post takes you on a deep dive into how our AI works and helps you build trust in our system.

Phase 1: Identifying Opportunities for Optimization

Our AI algorithm works tirelessly, scanning all product listings daily, looking for opportunities to optimize performance. The key factors it considers include the last update of a listing, the utilization of available characters and bytes, profit impact potential, alignment with Amazon’s guidelines, sales rank, and listing traffic.

However, the crown jewel of our strategy lies in continuously tracking evolving keyword trends to ensure maximum search coverage. Once optimization potential is identified, alerts are triggered for further action. Our AI system considers the product-based profitability and possible improvements in listing quality to calculate the profit impact potential. It also smartly incorporates seasonality and evolving search trends to ascertain the need for updates.

Phase 2: Responding to the Optimization Potential

Once the optimization potential is recognized, our AI gets to work. It auto-generates the core components of a listing - the Title, Description, Bullet Points, and Search terms, ensuring consistency in style and compliance with Amazon’s guidelines.

The AI strategically positions trending keywords within the listing, taking care to avoid keyword stuffing. It even adds other languages in certain marketplaces to broaden the search capture. Insights from reviews and competitor behavior are utilized to enrich these keyword trends.

The AI-generated updates are run through a moderation and evaluation service to guarantee quality. This process also evaluates the potential profit impact and uplift of the newly generated listing.

Phase 3: Implementing Changes & Tracking Performance

The AI-generated updates are then pushed to Amazon, with changes being triggered by the merchant. Merchants have the option to enroll ASINs for automated updates, which allows them to scale their listing optimizations.

After implementation, our AI system conducts immediate testing to ensure product updates are properly indexed and discoverable on Amazon. It also benchmarks the performance of these updates against other products in the same niche, monitoring critical operational performance indicators like conversion rate.

A history of changes is maintained with the ability to manually roll-back, and automated roll-backs are activated in case of imminent performance issues. Feedback from users, as well as performance data from changes, is captured to continuously optimize the process.

The cycle then begins anew, keeping product listings fresh and up to date as search patterns and competitor behavior continuously evolve. The AI remains vigilant, ready to spring into action when a new opportunity arises.

Currently, our tool is trained on English and optimized for Amazon.com. But we are planning to roll it out to further marketplaces in the coming weeks. The beauty of our AI is its scalability – it can efficiently optimize anything from 10 SKUs to tens of thousands.
